Aginah masterfully weaves readers along her journey. Aginah Carter-Shabazz, one of Philadelphia’s most prominent cosmetologist who learned the hard way about the high cost of pursuing the "fabulous" life as the girlfriend of a hustler and ex-wife of a Muslim minister, and in her mid life crisis a jewel thief. Reality set in when her boyfriend and a rival drug kingpin were killed in a massacre by the so-called black mafia inside Club Harlem, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It happened on Easter Sunday, April, 1972. She barely escaped with her life. www.youtube.com/thebookchoicez  Throughout the memoir, Aginah learns and grows, but the lessons of her poor choices don't fully take hold until, as a woman well into her forties. The purpose of the book is to help others learn to make better choices much earlier. "Choices do matter"

After being 5 months into this depleting situation, Bank account negative, rent due again, all sources tapped out, I was getting restless, I guess I wasn't the only one because as we are getting closer to the launch my associate was communicating with me less and less. I stopped asking when the site would launch and he stopped sending me updates. I would write him emails requesting a meeting so that we could talk about the direction of the site and he would say that he would get to it but he never did.

I knew that my  relationship with my associate had changed, he was being distant, dismissive and quick tempered and I felt every bit of it. I couldn't believe that he had the nerve to be so cold to me after every thing that I have been through with him and this venture. I really didn't know what was gonna happen. A few days later I finally asked him when he thought the site would really launch, he tells me that the site launched the previous week, I was in a little shock, my temperature rose about a million degrees, I had not been notified of anything . I felt disrespected and minimized but I sucked it up and continued to do the job I was hired for.  Things got progressively worse there were glitches with the site and every time I gave him feedback he would act as if I was criticizing him personally. It really got out of hand one time when I was brought in a couple of top notch network marketers who would bring in tons of business, they told me that the site needed improvement in certain areas so that it could be easier for the user. When I relayed this message back to my associate , He blew his top! " I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS SITE DAY AND NIGHT AND IF THEY CAN'T GET IT MAYBE THEY JUST NEED TO READ CAUSE IT AIN'T THAT HARD" I calmly told him this is quality control we need this type of feedback in order to get things working right, then he says "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS SITE IF THEY WAN'T THEIR MONEY BACK I WILL GIVE IT TO THEM, THE SITE IS KICKIN ASS RIGHT NOW",  I was blown away at how he was handling this and even more so at the fact that he said the site was "Kicking ass" so I told him, if the site is kicking so much ass when could I see some money? His answer to me (get ready for this one) he said, "INVOICE ME". Whew it took everything that I had to stay calm... but I did.

The first week of August 2008 I sent my Associate an invoice for $25,000 minus the $900 that he paid me when he paid my bills. He sends back a nice reply telling me that he is going to send me a payment schedule and that he is still working on getting me some money, Oh and that my services were no longer needed, I wasn't shocked quite relieved but angry none the less.   A week later I told him I had not received the payment schedule and that I would like for us to settle this promptly other wise  I would take legal action. Oh my Goodness that must have made him jump stomp in anger like Rumple Stilskin because he sent me back the nastiest letter,( I will spare you the details) basically he said that I was just sitting around running the clock and that I had no patience , that I knew it was a start up company. I never replied, because I knew that he was reaching. I decided to let my attorney who I hired on a contingency basis handle that so that I could move forward.

Through out this whole ordeal what I have learned is that, I took that position thinking that it was going to catapult me to a higher level, so I ran and ran with his dream on my shoulders, I did things for his company that I hadn't even done for my own company! Marketing plans, infomercials, press releases, articles, research, graphics you name it I did it, I turned into an employee all over again. I discovered that underneath it all I was still afraid to truly be on my own, to truly depend on ME. I had more confidence in what I could do for others than what I could do for me.  I was afraid that if I stepped out on my own that I would fail and that would mean that all of my visions were artificial, that my purpose wasn't what I thought it was after all, I didn't want that to be my reality. I also learned that I am responsible for everything that happens in my life I can not wait for anyone to GIVE me an opportunity I have to make my own. I can't expect for people to do what I think they should because they never will. a I have to keep moving toward that vision that I created for myself and understand that everything that happens, is in preparation for what's to come I am accountable for all things in my life good and bad and I am ready for what is coming.

My story may seem  distressing to some but believe me, this is the best thing that has ever happened to me because I am fully aware, I am getting to where I am going but while I am here right now, I am taking advantage of every single moment. What I am asking of all of you is to be part of my story, my story has a phenomenal ending and I want you all to be a part of it. I am bringing to life a vision that I have had for a very long time, opening myself up to you is part of that vision but I am asking you to help me complete it. I want to share my progress with you so that 5 years from now when you see the effects you will say "Wow, I remember that story I watched it grow, I AM part of it!

Viveca Gresham Tubman  - Legacy - Madame Harriet Tubman, (Underground Railroad)... I am an author (Survival For the 21st Century” THE OLD WAYS”), corporate trainer, educator, humanitarian and entrepreneur. My goal is to implement an economic development plan that will allow anyone to participate--regardless of socioeconomic background or educational status. The Black community needs help and those of us who have attained the skills and abilities should remember the likes of Martin Delany, Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, etc. The median networth of a majority family is $88,000 but the median networth of a Black family is less than $5,900. At Harriet Tubman/ ARI, my partner Lloyd and I have discovered how this disparity was created and now we believe we have a solution to close the wealth gap. We're looking for individuals who are "EXTREMELY SERIOUS" about building a truly successful business and knowing “YOU” are the most powerful tool to make it happen!...Leaders are developed by enthusiasm and present their business by example…Spectators create unproductive habitual patterns, manifesting fear, watch and eventually fade away. So to all network marketers, come and work with the Harriet Tubman/ ARI to harness the wealth that is within the Black community and enjoy the benefits this society can offer

Hello World! Thanx for stopping by and making it a memorable experience for all. I've just launched my new internet talk radio show in real time. Being a Tubman has not been easy...I have been campaigning for the Harriet Tubman National Holiday... the first suggested Global Holiday for Women MARCH 10th Is Harriet Tubman Day.....the subject of Self Help is broad but significant...As the author of my self published "Survival For the Twenty First Century"...is just one contribution in the disaster-preparedness

Each week I will attempt to connect humanity to a greater purpose for living. I'll be there, so you be there...relax, while you'll listen to some of our nations current activists, humanitarians, emerging leaders, wellness specialists, and let's not forget our veterans.

Call in my show week beginning Sunday August 31 at 3pm. EST (347) 237-4575

Deon Leftenant
Deshalamar Enterprises

Sports fans have long seen the dreadlocks of Manny Ramirez and many other players flowing from under his cap. Plumber-turned-entrepreneur Deon Leftenant has a product that can help superstars and regular folks who sport the same look keep their dreads under control.

Leftenant, 47, of Brentwood, L.I., invented Locks Down, a line of wraps targeted to that market.
He got the idea watching Jamaican construction workers battle to keep their hair out of their way. Last September, he launched his product through his newly formed company, Deshalamar Enterprises, which is based in Central Islip, L.I.

"It's something to wrap your hair in, eliminating the need for a bandana or scarf," he said.
Made of cotton and terry cloth, Locks Down sells for $15 to $18. Leftenant, an Army vet, uses the American flag on some of his product. His customers gave him the idea for his next innovation.
"People kept saying they wanted to jump in the shower and go about their day without getting their hair wet," he said. His solution was a water-resistant version made of umbrella fabric. That one sells for $20 to $25, and Leftenant hopes it will increase sales by 30%. It launched in May at the Locks Fashion Show at the National Black Theatre of Harlem.

The fledgling business, which Leftenant started with $35,000 of savings, is still working its way out of debt. But now he has hopes for financing. "We're meeting with some investors," he said. "I couldn't get anyone to help before, but now everyone is coming out of the woodwork."
